Welcome to ISU Distance Education students! To get what you need to get started using the ISU Library, here are the basics...
Ready? Get your ISUCard! Distance Learning students are a diverse group, but everyone has an ISUCard. Remember that ISUCard that was mailed to you by the Continuing & Distance Education office? You need that card to use many of the ISU Library's online search tools and services -- keep it handy!
Set? Set your Library PIN! In order to use many of the databases and services on the ISU e-Library website, you'll need to set up your Library PIN.
Go! Use the ISU e-Library website! The ISU e-Library website offers its online catalog, numerous online databases, full-text journal articles, and online support services for you. If you're prompted to login while connecting to any of the e-Library resources or services, simply use your ISUCard number (last 11 digits of the number on your ISUCard - sometimes these digits are called Borrower ID), and use your Library PIN as your password!
Problems? First, make sure you're not using a Virtual Private Network
(VPN). A VPN client bypasses the steps listed above and delivers your
request directly to the commercial database vendor, but without identifying you
as an authorized user/subscriber. (Read the section "E-journals,
e-books..." on our
Remote Users
page for more information.) Report any problems with your ISUCard to the Continuing & Distance Education office. Report difficulties
finding or using Library resources by using the Ask a Librarian service.
