Biographical note

Clarence J. Zintheo served as the first professor in charge of agricultural engineering at Iowa State from 1903 to 1905. He left the college in the summer of 1905 to take a position with the Division of Irrigation and Drainage of the United States Department of Agriculture. By fall of 1908, Zintheo had left his government position to serve as general manager of the Electric Transportation Company of Seattle, Washington. The archives has no record of his activities after this time.
 

Collection description

The file consists mostly of correspondence between Zintheo and the U.S.D.A., but there is also a short biographical article taken from the August 27, 1903 issue of Farm Implement News. Other information may be found in the Twentieth Biennial Report of the college, the catalogues and the Jay B. Davidson File.
