The
Iowa State University 25-Year Club recognizes members of the faculty and
staff who have served Iowa State University for at least twenty-five
years. The club was
informally established in 1915 when General James R. Lincoln, Treasurer
Herman Knapp, Professors Edgar W.
Stanton, Alfred A. Bennett, and Louis H. Pammel and several others were
honored during a special convocation for their many years of service to
the university. The
organization was formalized in 1934 under the direction of Harold E.
Pride, then secretary of the Iowa State College (University) Alumni
Association. The charter was
signed on June 9, 1934, by 43 staff members.
Annual meetings are currently held in the spring during which new
initiates are presented certificates of membership.
Also, special recognition is given to those members who have
reached other milestones in their years of service to Iowa State, such as
35 or 50 years of service. Members
who had died during the previous year are recognized during the meetings
as well. |
| This collection contains news clippings, annual meetings and banquets material, administrative record books, correspondence and membership rosters. The record book and secretary’s book supply detailed accounts of meetings of the 25-Year Club including meeting minutes, committee reports and tributes to deceased members. The original framed charter is housed in the vault. The collection is arranged alphabetically. |
