| Biographical note |
| Stanley R. Johnson received
a Bachelor of Arts degree in Agricultural Economics from Western Illinois
University (1961), a Master of Science degree in Agricultural Economics from
Texas Technological College in Lubbock (1962), and a Doctor of Philosophy
degree from Texas A & M University, College Station (1966). Johnson was employed as an Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Missouri (1964-1966), as an Associate Professor of Agricultural Economics at the University of Connecticut (1966-1967), as an Associate Professor of Economics and Agricultural Economics at the University of Missouri (1967-1970), and as a Professor of Economics and Agricultural Economics at the University of Missouri (1970-1985). He was employed as a Professor of Economics at Iowa State University (1985-), and named a Charles F. Curtiss Distinguished Professor (1990). He was also the Director of Iowa State University’s Center for Agricultural and Rural Development (CARD) from March 1985 to September 1996. CARD is an internationally recognized multi-disciplinary public policy research organization. Areas of emphasis include agricultural and trade policy, food and nutrition policy, rural and economic development policy, and environmental and natural resource policy. Stanley Johnson is a Fellow of the American Agricultural Economics Association. He was named Vice Provost for University Extension at Iowa State University in 1996. |
Collection Description |
| The collection documents Stanley R. Johnson’s years (1985-1996) as the Director of the Iowa State University Center for Agriculture and Rural Development (CARD). During his tenure as Director international agricultural exchanges with the Ukraine/Soviet Union, Poland, Armenia, Sweden, and Lithuania were emphasized. The collection includes arrangements, correspondence, project reports and trip reports for these international agricultural exchanges. The collection also contains 9.1 linear feet (7 records center cartons) of unprocessed materials. |
