 Biographical note

 
Dr. King was born in 1900 in Ewing, Illinois.  He received his B.S. (1923) from the University of Illinois and M.S. (1924) and Ph.D. (1930) from Iowa State College (University).  His research interests were in the field of inorganic chemistry and catalysis, including the behavior of hydrogen sulfide as a solvent.  

W. Bernard King joined the staff of the Iowa State College (University) Department of Chemistry as an instructor (1923-1931).  He was promoted to assistant professor (1931-1944), associate professor (1944-1950), and full professor of chemistry (1950-1970). 

 After his retirement, Dr. King spent the winters in Sarasota, Florida, where he moved to in 1992.  He died December 20, 1994.
